Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 — Cape Town → Route 62 → Oudtshoorn
±378 km | ±4 hr 30 min driving, excluding stops
We meet at Engen Winelands and head inland to begin our road trip along scenic Route 62. The road winds through mountain passes and small Karoo towns, with a stop in Barrydale before continuing to Oudtshoorn.
At our first overnight stop, we set up camp, settle in and get to know the she-adventurers we’ll be sharing the road with.
Day 2 — Oudtshoorn → Baviaanskloof
±167 km | ±2 hr 20 min driving
Today we leave the main roads behind and head towards Baviaanskloof.
This is the kind of country that makes overlanding special - remote farm roads, dramatic kloofs, mountains and long stretches of open landscape.
We arrive at our overnight stop, pitch camp and settle into a slower evening surrounded by nature.
Day 3 — Baviaanskloof → Hogsback
±519 km | ±6 hr 20 min driving
Our longest driving day takes us deeper into the Eastern Cape, with changing landscapes and plenty of open road along the way.
As we approach Hogsback, the scenery becomes greener and more mountainous.
We arrive, set up for a two-night stay and settle into one of the Eastern Cape’s most charming mountain villages.
Day 4 — Hogsback
Local exploring | Minimal driving
No packing up camp this morning. We have a full day to enjoy Hogsback’s forests, mountain views and village charm, with time to explore, slow down and enjoy the surroundings.
Depending on availability, optional experiences can include local walks, the cliff-edge bath or simply an easy afternoon around camp before dinner together.
Day 5 — Hogsback → Addo Elephant National Park
±234 km | ±3 hr 20 min driving
We pack up camp and leave the mountains behind as we make our way towards Addo.
After arriving and setting up for our two-night stay, the afternoon is ours to unwind and enjoy the surroundings.
Tonight, we cook, gather around the table or fire and share stories from the road so far.
Day 6 — Addo Elephant National Park
Full day | ±60–70 km local game driving
Today our own vehicles become our safari vehicles.
We spend the day self-driving through Addo Elephant National Park, keeping watch for elephants, buffalo, zebra, kudu, warthog and whatever else appears along the way.
After a day in the park, there’s time to slow down with an included massage before returning to camp for another relaxed evening together.
Day 7 — Addo → Knysna
±412 km | ±5 hr 36 min estimated driving time
We leave Addo behind and turn back towards the Garden Route, taking the more scenic route as the landscape shifts from Eastern Cape bushveld to greener forests and coastal scenery.
There are currently roadworks along sections of the route, so driving times are approximate - but we think the prettier road is worth the extra time.
We settle into our final destination in Knysna, stay in a guest houseset up camp and ease into the last stretch of the trip - with plenty of road stories to share by now.
Day 8 — Knysna & Featherbed Nature Reserve
We finish our She Adventurer Tour with a Featherbed Nature Reserve experience across the Knysna Lagoon plus lunch - a few relaxed hours of scenery, nature and time together before the official convoy comes to an end.
Eight days. Dusty roads. Tents pitched and packed. Elephants, forests, mountain passes and plenty of kilometres in between.
And, hopefully, a few new friendships to take home with you.
Day 9 — Knysna → Cape Town (Trip Closes)
±488 km | ±5 hr 30 min estimated driving time
Our journey officially wraps in Knysna.
Those travelling back to Cape Town are welcome to join Candice for the return drive in convoy, while anyone continuing their journey independently can just depart from Knysna.
This is one last stretch of open road for those heading home together.
