Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 — Heidelberg → Korentepoort Dam

We meet in Heidelberg and head out to Korentepoort Dam for the first overnight stop. A relaxed start to the tour with beautiful scenery, camp setup, and time to settle into the rhythm of the trip.

Day 2 — Korentepoort Dam → Attakwaskloof → Bonniedale

From Korentepoort we travel through the historic Attakwaskloof route to Bonniedale Farm for the night. This is a scenic and character-filled section with old pass history, mountain views, and proper overlanding energy.
Bonniedale is in the Attaquaskloof / Attakwaskloof area, and the pass is known as one of the Cape’s old ox-wagon routes.

Day 3 — Bonniedale → Swartberg Pass → Gamkaskloof (Die Hel)

We leave Bonniedale and make our way over the Swartberg Pass before descending into Gamkaskloof, also known as Die Hel, for an unforgettable overnight stay. This is one of the most iconic and remote valleys in the Western Cape.
Gamkaskloof is widely known as “Die Hel,” a remote valley in the Swartberg range.

Day 4 — Gamkaskloof → Louvain

We climb back out of the valley and continue on to Louvain for the night. After the intensity of Die Hel, this section gives us time to enjoy the broader landscape, good camp vibes, and a well-earned reset.
Louvain Guest Farm is in the upper Langkloof valley between George and Uniondale.

Day 5 — Louvain → Seven Passes route → Burchell’s Track

Today is all about heritage and mountain history. We travel through the Bain-era pass country and continue toward Burchell’s Track, where we meet Katot Meyer, who shares stories about the area, the old ox-wagon route, and the history of this remarkable landscape. We overnight here.
Katot Meyer is strongly associated with Burchell’s historic ox-wagon / 4x4 route and is known for sharing the route’s history with visitors.

Day 6 — Burchell’s Track → Start of Baviaanskloof

We leave Burchell’s area and make our way toward the start of Baviaanskloof. This is a transition day that sets us up for one of South Africa’s great overland routes.

Day 7 — Through Baviaanskloof → Kudu Kaya

A full Baviaanskloof day. Expect rugged beauty, dramatic mountain scenery, river crossings, and one of the most rewarding self-drive routes in the country as we continue through to Kudu Kaya for the night.
Baviaanskloof is known for remote farming country, varied accommodation, and iconic mountain-pass travel through the kloof.

Day 8 — Kudu Kaya → Addo

We head onward to Addo, shifting from mountain and pass country into big wildlife territory. Arrival, camp setup, and time to unwind.

Day 9 — Addo (Full Day)

A full day in the Addo area. Wildlife viewing, game drive opportunities, and time to enjoy one of South Africa’s best-known conservation regions.

Day 10 — Addo (Trip Close)

Our final day. A slow breakfast, final moments together, and trip wrap-up before departures.
